The alternate lives of an academic.

Exams and a Bum Knee

Going down the stairs on Monday, I felt something that I shouldn’t have.
Yep. It had to happen this week. When I need the focus and stress-release, given how currently unprepared I am.
I had a great run on Saturday, and endured a super hilly 18-milr on Friday. I’ll likely write about those sometime.
I have ideas for those posts.
But I am pissed about my knee and really stressed from being behind, with no one to blame but myself.
So I’m going to wait on those posts.
I hope I can get out tomorrow on this knee. I’m trying to be patient and conservative. That is difficult. And I’m having a hard time organizing my time when I don’t have my run to organize it around.
Ideas? Motivation?

Perhaps dedicate the time you’d normally be running to some other kind of fitness activity that will help your running and allow you to blow off some steam? My suggestions: biking, swimming or lifting. Getting up the motivation to cross-train is hard- I’d be happy if I never had to see a bike or a lap pool again- but it beats being sedentary. And don’t forget to ice ice ice!
